I’m experiencing the same issue. I’ve checked my BTTV version, and it’s stuck on 7.2.1 as well. Reinstall from the Chrome Webstore and from this website has only reinstalled this older version, not the up-to-date version. Standard fixes have been attempted: clearing cache, history, cookies, restarting, reinstalling.

The screen is largely the purple colour with slightly different smaller purple boxes (where the actual programs are normally).
