The Española Animal Shelter observed the day on Feb. 27 and pledged to do 75 surgeries. “While everyday is spay and neuter day at our shelter, we wanted to celebrate World Spay Day by increasing our daily goal of 40 free surgeries up to 75 surgeries,” Española Humane Director of Communications Mattie Allen said.
