Can’t really get good unless you practice, learning how to do stuff is just BS. i just spammed chime until i got 1 skull everyday. at first, i kept getting smoked but eventually youll get a lot better.
Get mobility mantras and learn how to survive dropping off of cliffs.You only have to PVP if people can catch up to you. Also, practice parrying and stall tactics. Also, definitely don't chop wood. Bandits are much more efficient. I can help you progress, but it's unlikely that you're going to keep consistently getting ganked if you keep trying. If you can’t figure out parrying timing normally you can look for sparks that indicate when to parry. At the opportunity for you to parry an enemy attack if they are a human, there will be a sparkle at the tip of their weapon. After you see that you can try getting your reflexes used to the timing of parrying. Good luck out there.
Practice parry trading with your friends. Only m1s. Then when you guys get used to it start to feint. You should get a habit of not only parrying but also to dodge once you miss a parry. If they feint, dodge. Enforcer is a great way to learn parrying as he feints randomly. Also actively spar with friends or really anyone that vibes at nomad. Pretty sure macro is useless in deepwoken and would only make fighting harder for you. You probably got galebreath combo'd, missed a few parries and game punished you harshly for that. So the way parrying works is not what you might be used to. If an NPC or a player lands an m1 on you, it does stun you for a small fraction of a second. But this stun only prevents you from doing a roll; you can still press the F key to parry the second incoming attack, but you have to time it correctly. But say someone lands their first m1 on ...

The best place to practice is at the Isle of Vigils. You can spawn there. Get into the temple, take a left, and look for a sign that says "Trainers." Here, you can talk to an NPC who spawns a combatant. This enemy will not kill you when you get downed, and instead heal you near full. This is how I practiced parry. The parry timing has been extended when you miss making missing a parry more punishing because you can't just miss a parry and parry the next. The game has moved towards more of a combo feeling. Also yeah, like the other person said, just keep fighting and youll get better. Even try fighting random people that dont even attack you. I would recommend going to the depths on purpose as a low level and fighting mobs. You will get more used to their attack patterns.
