Illustrator guides not showing.

I accidentally pressed the print tiling tool whilst exploring Illustrator, which I have managed to hide, but now the default pink margin lines have disappeared. I've tried the Show/Hide Guides options and opened new documents, but the pink margins have gone. I have searched the internet and forums for answers, but have been unsuccessful so far.Smart Guides are not showing when I use Adobe Illustrator CC. There were several posts in this forum that suggest turning of "snap to grid" and double checking the preferences that smart guides are on. I've done both and provided screenshots. Also make sure you have smart guides TURNED ON and "Alignment Guides" Checked in preferences. This works for both text and objects! I added text to an ellipse path --but the selection handles (as seen circled in red on the attached graphic example) are not showing. With the Direct Selection arrow tool selected I can see the text is wrapped ON the path. But no way to adjust or move the text on the path after it's added.

Show/Hide Edges (ctrl+H) did the trick for me. Toggling the Real Time Drawing setting on and off did not prevent the guides from vanishing, neither did switching from Previewing on CPU or GPU. This worked for me as well. My guide would disappear when I tried to align it to a path or anchor point.
