Part of the problems of the availability of 480 ammo is it's popularity. Ruger sells guns chambered in 480 Ruger. Until it gets more popular there are not too many other manufacturers that want to promote Ruger anything, even a caliber. Ruger doesn't sell any guns chambered in 460 S&W magnum or 500 S&W magnum.
