the real problem isnt thammaron's but how op the other weapons are and that you only use mage 3 places really, Crazy arch, scorpia and lava dragons. At 2 of those, crazy arch and scorpia the sceptre is actually really good. Its better DPS than any mage setup except harmonized staff.6619. You could probably do scorpia with like 50 magic. Blitz is just the best thing to use. You can entangle and kill the healers with ease. You can snare/entangle.
