Yeah Bowler steals the rewards from the Rat chests. However you still obtain the items from the Punch-Out fight, so fighting the Rat is still worth it in my opinion. Unless I have extremely bad luck, no, you cannot unlock them in rainbow mode. Which is odd because apparently you CAN unlock high Dragonfire.. but with how rare it is I would hope so.
