The three elephants at Roger Williams Park Zoo were brought to America together in 1988 from Zimbabwe by Frank Thompson. In June 1988, Allen Campbell took posession of the females and kept them with several other Africans until they arrived permanently at the Rhode Island zoo in October 1990.
