While Gumbalimba park may be fun, what it offers is not something that I would consider "uniquely Roatan". A beautiful white sand beach with palm trees and crystal clear water. We chose this inexpensive excursion from RC Wonder of the Seas while docked in Roatan. The van ride from the ship to Tabyana passed by areas of poverty, but we never felt uneasy or threatened. We were taken directly to the beach area with very little walking required.

After being in port for about 20 minutes and seeing the prices there, we decided to head over to Tabyana Beach. Well, that was a big mistake! First of all, it cost us $80 US to get there and back. They greeted us in Zone 4 and then escorted us to an air conditioned bus. It was about a 25 minute bus ride to the beach; roads were paved and while I typically experience motion sickness, this ride wasn’t too bad- I didn’t even need Bonine.
