Sep 25, 2016 · Here are the pictures of the back of our 1946 CJ2A trail Jeep with the MB tire mount. Tire weight is on the bumperett. WW2 Spare tire mount on the 1946 CJ2A tail gate. Tire is a 16/700. The tread of the tire is flush with the outside of the passenger side of the tub. We pull a M416 trailer with this Jeep. I'm guessing that the alignment issue mentioned is getting the transmission main shaft in the flywheel/clutch shaft pilot bearing when reassembling the transmission and bellhousing to the engine. Pretty sure the M38 requires the 5/8-inch spacer to mount properly (ensures proper fuel pressure and volume). Pretty sure it also requires pre-loading the diapghram. Both procedures are covered in the M38 TM. As is troubleshooting and measuring the pump for proper pressure and volume. I assume you have the TM.

1952 Willys Jeep CJ2A/CJ3A. So I have the option of buying this old jeep. Tag says its a 1952 but I can't tell if it's a CJ2A or a CJ3A. The engine was partially disassembled. The head, water pump, and fan were removed. It's missing the carb. The transmission and transfer case seem odd.

If it was a new GPW engine that was installed later as a replacement for the original Willys engine serial number CJ2A-34630, then perhaps the installer stamped the GPW engine A 34630 to keep the numerical part of the original CJ2A engine serial number in the jeep. It has a dual master cylinder pushing standard 9" drum brakes. The Pinto has a timing belt which can be changed on the trail if need be - been there. This is the mounting bolt that holds the bed firmly to your Jeep. Then there are two braces that attach to your bumper and extend 45 degrees up to the floor of the new bed. This will help for heavy loads and take the strain off of the rear of the body chain latch slots.

I don't know anything about transmissions, especially the ones in the cj2a. I have a noise in the transmission when it is in neutral and the engine is running with the clutch pedal out. When I push the clutch to the floor the noise goes away, and I don't know if the noise is around with driving down the road because of road noise and engine noise.

I am new to this forum. I have acquired a 1946 cj2a from a family member this year. I have been trying to get it going over the past few weeks. It has sat for the last 10+ years. The only lights on the CJ2A dash are the high beam tell tale and the instrument light, AFAIK. Walck's fuel gauge has a hole in the back that a lamp holder snaps into. The lamp holder is too small for the hole. I realize this is not original, but no once can tell looking at the gauge installed.
