It allowed for "elections" while also giving you something to do when your family wasn't in power. I'm sure CK3 will introduce a similar system at some point.

The goal is to get the dividends on money which you invested in buildings of your domain back. So, you can build anything with a focus on economy buildings on domain where you are going to keep permanently.I recommend always having at least 10.
