Romanian ak bayonet.
I removed the old handles and wrapped the tang with paracord. It still has the same function, with the added bonus of an exposed metal pommel. The newer style AK bayonets have better handles and metal pommels, but they cost more, so it just depends on what you want to spend. I like paracord just fine.

May 8, 2022 · It is designed to align and locate the blade tang with the hilt. Is also there to prevent the bayonet from rotating around the barrel axis when mounted. The lug slides into the slot under the front sight base. This slot also used to secure the cleaning rod under the barrel. Most likely the issue is with the rifle.
