That would be a stupid design. A lot of people think you do, but you don’t. Try it yourself. Clear the gun. Point in safe direction, dry fire it. Then pull the slide lock down, move slide back to unlock, then the slide will move forward and off the lower. You don’t pull the trigger while removing the slide. 1.
